founder of Self Employed Women's Association

      Two lines from the corner of the magazine caught my attention...Ela Bhatt was honoured-"Global Fairness Initiate Award" It was awarded last November(2010) and somehow i missed the heading... as some of you may know Global Fairness Initiative is an organisation started to help the poor by providing working opportunities with fair wages...as an Indian i'm proud that someone from India was honoured for her work.
      what made Ela Bhatt to start Self Employed Women's Association(SEWA)?
 Back in 1970 there were no laws which help self employed people as though there were many laws for Industrial Workers, so she came up with SEWA which hepled poor women to find herself in a position to support the family & able to send their children to school apart from that it offered retirement accounts and health insurance.
     Currently it had 1million people enroled & surprisingly half of them were belonged to Gujurat and that expains why Gujarat is fasted growing ecomony in India.In this corruption hit political nation we don't often find the person like Ela Bhatt-therefore i would to show my Gratitute for this Successful Indian.
